The archipelago is a place of great potential to serve as a tourist attraction, especially diving tourism. Raja Ampat Islands waters according to various sources, is one of the 10 best waters for diving sites around the world. Around 450 species of corals could be identified during the two weeks of research in that area.

This makes 75% of coral species in Raja Ampat world. No single place, with an area having the same number of these coral species.

There are several areas of coral reefs that are still very good condition with the percentage of live coral cover up to 90%, namely in the Dampier Strait (the strait between P. and P. smalldam Batanta), Kofiau Islands, Islands and South East Misool Wayag Islands. Types of coral reefs in Raja Ampat is generally the contours of the reef edge to the steep slope. But it was also found atoll type and type of burns or taka. In some places like in the village Saondarek, when the lowest tides, can be witnessed stretch without a dive and coral reefs with their own adaptations, these reefs can still be alive despite being in the open air and direct sunlight.

Unique species that can be encountered when diving is some kind of dwarf sea horses, wobbegong, and manta rays. There are also four endemic fish king, namely Eviota king, that is a kind of fish gobbie. At Manta Point inlying Arborek Dampier straits, you can dive with the Manta Ray was accompanied by several heads of benign like when you dive in Derawan Islands, East Kalimantan. If you dive at Cape Kri or Chicken Reef, you can be surrounded by thousands of fish. Sometimes a collection of tuna, giant trevallies and snappers. But a tense if we are surrounded by a collection of fish, barracuda, although in fact it's relatively harmless (which is dangerous if we see a solitary barracuda or alone). Reef sharks are also frequently seen, and with luck you can also see the turtle is still eating sponge or swim around you. Diving Season

Travel To Prague

Raja Ampat diving is superb just about all year round. The term High Season is of little meaning here since there is such an expanse of sea visited by only a few liveaboards that "diver soup" is not really a danger. May to September is light rainy season, and Mid-July to mid-September sees some small surface swells, but not usually serious enough to interfere with your enjoyment.

Scuba Diving In Raja Ampat

Travel To Prague

Raja Ampat, Indonesia is home to the world's richest reefs and dive sites. Located at the heart of the Coral Triangle, the region sprawls over 180,000 square kilometers and boasts the majority of the world's reef-building corals. In fact, in an area the size of two football fields, scientists discovered more than six times as many coral species as live in the entire Caribbean Sea.

Raja Ampat has over 700 species of mollusks and 1,200 species of fish. Counted among those is the newly discovered 'walking' epaulette shark, commonly seen on night dives on our house reef.

In 2005, Misool Eco Resort reached an agreement with the local village and secured the rights to 400+ sq km of sea surrounding our dive resort island, Batbitim. Inside this No-Take Zone, all fishing, cyanide fishing, bombing, shark finning, harvesting of turtle eggs and shellfish are prohibited.

Seven additional Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) were established in 2007 due to the joint efforts of Conservation International, The Nature Conservancy, The Coral Reef Alliance, and the local Indonesian government. Raja Ampat is now a Marine Park, using a tag system for visiting divers, similar to Bunaken.
